The dreyfusi species group consists of nine known species (Baechli, 2005). It is considered to be closely related to the repleta, mesophragmatica, canalinea, and coffeata species groups (Throckmorton, 1975; Tatarenkov and Ayala, 2001; Remsen and O’Grady, 2002). Phylogenetic relationships within this species group have not yet been examined.
