The pallidipennis species group contains one species, D. pallidipennis, which is found in the Neotropics. Two subspecies are currently recognized, D. pallidipennis centralis and D. pallidipennis pallidipennis. Pasteur and Kastristis (1971) have examined the polytene chromosomes of this species.
